Saraswati Puja (February 11th)
A day dedicated to the Saraswati, the hindu goddess of knowledge and arts. People worship her for wisdom and often initiate academic and artistic endeavors on this auspicious day, along with a social daytime gathering and traditional Bengali lunch.
Bengali New Year (May 11th)
Welcoming the new year of the bengali calendar with colorful processions, traditional music, and dinner. A symbolic cultural celebration of new beginnings and hopes for the future.
Community Picnic (July 16th)
Our members get the chances to spend a day out bonding over community cooking, lunch and games, strengthening the ties and forging new bonds in our close knit community.
Freshers’ annual welcome (September 24th)
A warm introduction welcome party for newcomers to State College, ranging from freshman year to graduate students, new community families, and incoming faculty and scholars
Durga Pujo (October 28th)
An extravagant celebration of feminine power, marking the triumph of the goddess Durga over the demon Mahishasura. Join us for an immersive day of traditional customs and rituals, colorful decorations, a vibrant cultural program, and some amazing food, creating a vibrant cultural spectacle that reverberates with devotion and joy.
General Body Meeting (November)
An in-person or virtual gathering for those interested in Aabahon, members and otherwise, where we discuss our accomplishments this year, gather feedback and concerns from attendees, and our plans for the future.
